Pours deep red/brown with a high, rocky head which takes time to settle. There's some sticky lacing around the glass.

Malts, spices, yeast, bread and hints of dark fruits in the aroma.

Malty and yeasty flavor. Pepper together with other spices. Caramel and dark fruits.

St. Amatus 12 330ml, 10.5% - Belgium

Pours very deep, dark brown with a two finger high tan head.

Malts, bread, nuts, caramel and hints of oak in the aroma.

Lovely flavor. Heavy on malts, raisins, caramel, chocolate, nuts and hints of coffee. Some booze towards the end.

I need to buy a few bottles to put in my cellar.

Pannepot Reserva 2006 330ml, 10% - Belgium

Pours deep brown with a one finger tan head.

Malts, oak, dark fruits and hints of vanilla in the aroma.

Complex flavor. Malty with lot's of dark fruits, caramel, nuts, wood and spices.

Awesomeness! I of course prefer the 2005 Grand Reserva more. :)

Merck Toch Hoe Sterk 330ml, 9% - Netherlands

Pours darkish brown with almost no head.

Sweet aroma. Caramel, malts, sugar, prunes, raisins and nuts.

The flavor pretty much reflects the aroma and I love it when it does.

Too bad this is only medium bodied! But still, not bad at all!

Abstrakt AB:01 375ml, 10.2% - Scotland

Bottle 1406/3200, bottled on the 29th of January 2010.

Pours deep red/copper with a thin head.

Malts, caramel, dark fruits and yeast in the aroma.

Bread, malts, citrus and hints of caramel in the flavor. Boozy after taste. Hmm, I was hoping for the flavor to reflect the aroma. Feeling quite disappointed actually!

Urthel Samaranth 330ml, 11% - Belgium

Poured clear amber with almost no head.

Very sweet and syrupy aroma. Dried fruits, malts, caramel and brown sugar.

Great flavor. Caramelized malts, brown sugar, dark fruits (mostly raisins and prunes), caramel and syrup.

Highly enjoyable Quad!

Pannepøt - Old Monk's Ale 2007 330ml, 10% - Belgium

Apparently made for the Danish market.

Poured hazy brown with a small tan head. Some settlement is noticeable on the bottom of the glass.

Pretty much the same aroma as the previous Pannepot.. It's the same beer, so..

I wish I could drink this kind of beer everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The amazing Belgian yeast, together with caramel, coffee, sweet creamy vanilla and cocoa beans.

Amazing, that's what it is!

Pannepeut 2007 330ml, 10% - Belgium

This label was made for the American label.

Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head.

Sweet and fruity aroma. Yeast, vanilla, cherries, cinnamon and nutmeg.

Wow! Very complex taste. It's rich and full of caramel. Sweet maltyness together with coffee and cocoa beans. Vanilla, dark fruits, brown sugar and a light boozyness towards the end.

Amazing Quad. Easy to drink, thanks to the well balanced carbonation.

Val-Dieu Grand Cru 750ml, 10.5% - Belgium

Poured dark red with a frothy, dirty, white head.

Citrus, yeast, hops, cloves and grass aroma.

Very sweet flavor. Lot's of sugar and syrup here. Malts, yeast, spices and dark fruits. The alcohol is almost unnoticeable.

Rigor Mortis ABT 341ml, 10.5% - Canada

Pours red color with no head.

Malty aroma together with red fruits. Slightly yeasty.

Caramel, malts and light boozy flavor. Some fruits and brown sugar.

A little bit boring for a quad.

Trappistes Rochefort 10 330ml, 11.30% - Belgium

Brown appearance with a small head.

Fruitcake aroma. Sweet, malty and yeasty.

Tons of dried fruits up front. Raisins, prunes and caramel followed right after. A bit spicy and boozy flavor. I don't know why, but I've experienced booziness in all three Rocheforts.

Pannepot Grand Reserva Vintage 2005 330ml, 10% - Belgium

We recently tried three beers from the amazing De Struise Brouwers and I don't regret it for a second. Pannepot, Black Albert and Tsjeeses all were unbelievable in their category. I'm definitely going to order more of them!

Here's the first review and it's for Pannepot Grand Reserva Vintage 2005, opened January 2010.

Poured dark brown with pretty much no head.

I do sense oak right away. Amazing smell! You just can't stop sniffing it.

What an astonishing taste! It actually reminds me a little bit of Westvleteren 12, but with a milder taste.

Fruit cake, lots of dried fruits. Mild, sweet spices and some candy.

Surprisingly good beer! Never tried a fresh one, but I'm pretty sure that the aging did the trick here. :)

St. Bernardus Abt 12 330ml, 10.5% - Belgium

Dark brownish color with almost no head.

Fruity smell, mostly plums, some raisins.

Sweet taste starts off with dried fruits, chocolate, caramel and malt. Finishes with spices and rather strong alcohol after taste.

High carbonation, I'd prefer it to be more flatter.

Trappist Westvleteren 12 330ml, 10.2% - Belgium

And now for the grand finale. Let's see what's the fuss is all about..!

Dark candy brown appearance with a darkish head which dissolved instantly.

What a complex smell! Sweet burned sugar with notes of vanilla and caramel.

The taste is even better than the smell. Strong touch of caramel, bordering burned sugar. Huge variety of dark fruits, mostly plums and prunes. Hints of cherries.

Amazing beer! Well balanced and carbonated. Silky and smooth in the mouth. Just great!

Judgment Day 750ml, 10.5% - USA

Poured fast, dark brown with no head at all.


Smells like sweet candy and caramel, with a hint of toffee and brown sugar.

The taste has pretty much the same characteristics as the smell.. Sweet candy and caramel, brown sugar, raisins, dried fruits with a bitter alcohol aftertaste, which lasts for a short while.

Not bad at all, I'm a tad surprised actually. :)
