I wish this was more full bodied.

Wöllnitzer Weißbier 500ml, 4.5% - Germany

Looks like many people were wrong about this beer. The typical comment I heard was "It tastes great for a beer with such a low ABV." But apparently it's not. I got a bottle with a "new" home made label where it says 4.5%.. So I got the following answer:

The story is that the old label used until last year was an old-fashion one, but had a wrong declaration concerning the alcohol. The administrative office criticized that and forced him to an actual label. As he has no real time for that next to his brewery and gastronomy, he just made an amateur label on his own to be able to bottle it again. Well now it's says that it's 4,5%, but in reality it's 3,8% ;-)

Poured murky, pale yellow, with a small head which dissolved instantly.

Very citrus aroma. Some wheat, vitamin C and small lambic hints.

Sour, slightly spicy, vitamin C and wheat.

Well balanced carbonation!

Freigeist Caulfield 375ml, 10% - Germany

The first ever Imperial Stout from Germany. Got the bottle from Sebastian, the brewer.

Oily pitch black liquid poured into a sniffer. Very still and no head what so ever.

Roasted malts up front followed by a very scarce aroma, which I can't really describe right away. Sort of nutty and perfumy, boozy hint. Towards the end I think I know what it is, a whisky/bourbon aroma, although this wasn't aged in barrels.

Lot's of roasted malts in the flavor as well. Smoky hints, with tar. Dark chocolate, toffee, very light vanilla tones. Mild and creamy mouth feel. Quite well balanced, medium to full bodied. I like that oily touch that it has.

Fischer Bockbier 500ml, 7% - Germany

Poured dark red with a tiny tan head.

Very nutty aroma. Malts with small hints of caramel.

Starts off with a light sweetness. Feels like someone blended it with water. Dark fruits, malts and nuts.

Unfortunately this is a pass for me. Needs more flavor and character.

Fischer Rauchbier 500ml, 4.9% - Germany

Poured brown color with a small tan head.

Lovely mild smokyness together with dried plums in the aroma.

Tons of plums of front. There are even small notes of other dark fruits. Some smokyness in the background. After a few sips I get light notes of caramel.

Medium bodied, light carbonation. Quite ok.

Freigeist Abraxxxas 375ml, 6% - Germany

Got this bottle from one of the brewers, Sebastian.

Cloudy and murky orange with no head. Pretty much the same resemblance as the previous beer.

Light tarty smokyness (reminds me of Rauchbier). Grapefruit and citrus.

Sour and acidic taste. Citrus, vitamin C, wild apples, grapefruit, light (almost invisible) smokyness, which sends out small hints of ham. Some bitterness is noticeable. Now that bitterness is pretty much the only difference that I can spot between this and the 3.8% version.

Try this.. honestly.. do it!

Freigeist Abraxas 375ml, 3.8% - Germany

Got this bottle from one of the brewers, Sebastian.

Poured murky orange with pretty much no head what so ever.

Very interesting aroma. Quite smoky with some ham, salt and apples.

Now the taste is completely different from the aroma and not something that I expected.

Starts off very sour with a lot of citrus and vitamin C. Apples, wheat with an acidic touch.

I'm glad I've tried this. Quite enjoyable, specially at such low ABV.

Cloudy amber appearance with a huge white head.

Hoppy aroma, together with malts and some biscuit. Surprisingly good hoppy aroma for a bock.

Sweet flavor, with caramelized malts. A bit nutty with some caramel.

Not my type of beer really, but I thought it would be fun to include more German beers into this blog.
